Technical DataThe global fluid power industry has transitioned into a highly sophisticated technological era, dominated by the demands for high power density, energy efficiency, and digital control integration. Hydraulic pumps and piston motors serve as the heart of heavy-duty machinery, directing hydraulic fluid under immense operating pressures (frequently exceeding 400 bar / 5800 PSI) to perform mechanical work in infrastructure development, open-pit mining, forestry management, and maritime engineering.
Modern system architectures are increasingly migrating from traditional open-loop configurations to high-efficiency, closed-loop hydrostatic transmissions. This shift necessitates strict manufacturing tolerances and component durability to mitigate internal volumetric leakage. Sourcing agents and system designers are faced with the challenge of identifying components that deliver high mechanical efficiency and compatibility with biodegradable fluids, while controlling overall system acquisition costs.
In this competitive global arena, reliability is determined by raw material integrity and precise heat treatment methods. Spheroidal graphite cast irons (such as QT500-7) and case-hardened alloy steels are utilized to prevent structural deformation and wear on swashplates, rotary groups, and valve plate interfaces. The integration of sensors, such as speed transducers on track motors, allows for real-time diagnostics and automated machinery tracking, demonstrating the ongoing digitization of the fluid power sector.
China's industrial manufacturing ecosystem has evolved from a basic parts supplier to a developer of high-precision hydraulic technology. The cluster effect within manufacturing hubs, particularly in regions like Shandong, integrates raw material sourcing, casting, machining, heat treatment, and precision testing within localized networks. This integration facilitates rapid prototyping and production scalability while maintaining consistent quality control.
The financial and logistical benefits of sourcing from China are supported by substantial capital investments in automation. By utilizing advanced CNC centers from suppliers like Mazak and Okuma, Chinese manufacturers can maintain tolerances of 5 to 8 microns across cylinder block bores and piston pins. Consequently, OEMs globally receive products that are physically and functionally interchangeable with major brands (e.g., Rexroth, Eaton, Sauer-Danfoss) at a competitive total cost of ownership (TCO).
To optimize hydraulic system performance, it is necessary to understand the distinct design advantages of axial piston configurations. Axial piston pumps are categorized into two primary structural designs: Swashplate Designs (inline configuration) and Bent-Axis Designs.
In inline swashplate pumps, the cylinder barrel containing the pistons is coaxially aligned with the drive shaft. The displacement volume is controlled by adjusting the angle of the swashplate relative to the pistons. Rotating the cylinder barrel causes the pistons to stroke, drawing in and discharging oil.
Bent-axis piston motors feature a cylinder block set at an angle to the drive shaft axis. The pistons are linked to the drive shaft flange via ball-and-socket joints. When high-pressure oil is routed to the cylinder block, the thrust forces against the flange generate rotational torque.
Total efficiency ($\eta_t$) in hydraulic pumps is defined by the product of Volumetric Efficiency ($\eta_v$) and Mechanical-Hydraulic Efficiency ($\eta_{mh}$):
Volumetric losses stem from internal leakage between the high-pressure and low-pressure chambers (specifically along piston/cylinder clearances and the valve plate boundary). Weitai Hydraulic addresses this by utilizing modern hone finishing methods to restrict clearances to 5–8 microns, preserving volumetric efficiency above 95% at nominal operating conditions. Mechanical-Hydraulic losses are caused by viscous shear in the fluid film and physical friction at the bearings and seal lips. Minimizing these losses requires precision fluid selection and structural component optimization.
Weitai Hydraulic is one of China’s leading hydraulic suppliers, the earliest hydraulic enterprises which specializing in export business for decades. We are committed to providing excellent hydraulic products and services to both businesses and final users worldwide.
At the first beginning, we are OEM factory, and have gradually developed into a comprehensive company integrating production, trade and investment. Hydraulic motors are one of our main products. In addition to our own hydraulic factories, we are a shareholder of a high-quality hydraulic motor manufacturer. Our factories are all ISO certified and our material suppliers have all obtained CE, RoHS, CSA and UL certificates. We can design and customize according to drawings to meet the diverse needs of customers.
The Motor products include but are not limited to travel motors, swing motors and wheel-motors. Our motors have an advanced design structure and provide high volume efficiency, high strength and good stability which far superior than our competitors’ motors. This resulted in the demand and production of over 40,000 Weitai travel motors in 2019. Weitai travel motors are now even included in the production line for excavator manufacturers such as SANY, XCMG and SDLG.
As the Shandong Hydraulic Association’s (SDHA) Secretary Company and the comprehensive export platform of provincial hydraulic organization, Weitai is proud to represent China and share our high quality hydraulic products with the world. Weitai Hydraulic has already been elected to be the 2018 Annual Outstanding Enterprise at the Annual Conference and Intelligent Manufacturing Forum of Shandong Equipment Manufacturing Association, and we endeavor to consistently build on this success.
Hydraulic systems operate in diverse and demanding environmental conditions. Below are the primary application sectors where our components are deployed.
Excavator operations involve continuous shocks, heavy dust, and fluctuating loads. The swing and travel motors (such as the PCR-16-21 and WSM-64 series) drive the upper superstructure rotation and crawler tracks. These units are engineered to withstand axial and radial shocks while maintaining precise control during combined operations.
Compact track loaders (CTLs) require reliable hydrostatic propulsion within constrained spaces. Direct-fit assemblies like the Bobcat T590/T650 replacement travel motors feature an integrated brake valve and two-speed capability, allowing operators to transition smoothly between high-torque loading and high-speed transport.
Saline environments require corrosion protection and reliable sealing systems. Hydraulic motors used in winches and cranes utilize marine-grade polyurethane coatings and specialized FKM/Viton shaft seals to prevent seawater ingress and protect external interfaces.
Our production processes follow international standards, supported by verified quality credentials.

The industrial landscape is adapting to regulatory pressures and digital developments. The following trends represent key areas of evolution for hydraulic manufacturing over the coming decade:
As electric drivetrains become more common in construction machinery, traditional engine-driven pumps are being replaced by electric motor-pump units (MPUs). This change allows for decoupled variable speed operation, adjusting pump output directly through the electric motor controller to improve overall system efficiency.
Integrating speed transducers, pressure transducers, and fluid temperature sensors directly into motor and pump housings (e.g., closed-loop track motors) allows control systems to monitor operational health, helping to prevent unexpected downtime through data diagnostics.
Developing new metallurgical alloys and surface coatings, such as Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) on piston slippers, enables systems to handle operating pressures up to 480 bar, which helps increase power output without increasing physical component footprint.
Procuring hydraulic systems requires evaluating several operational parameters. For engineering and purchasing managers, our structured sourcing process helps align specifications from design to final delivery:
Submit detailed mechanical and hydraulic circuit drawings (including mounting flange types, shaft spline specifications, port sizes, and target flow rates) to align system interfaces.
Verify system requirements including nominal and peak operating pressures, displacement options (fixed or variable), temperature range, and fluid viscosity limits.
Define testing procedures for volumetric efficiency, starting torque, case drainage leakage limits, and noise levels. Ensure compliance with ISO, CE, and CSA standards.
